The objective of this meeting was to facilitate collaboration between research groups for the development of research and transfer projects on Antimicrobial Resistance in the field of intensive animal farming for human consumption.
Following welcoming remarks from the coordinators of each agency, the session featured a panel of experts on the topic. The speakers included Mariano Fernández Miyakawa (CONICET, Argentina), Federico Fernández (General Directorate of Livestock Services of the Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries and focal point for Antimicrobial Resistance, ANII, Uruguay), Gabriel Augusto Marques Rossi(Full Professor at Universidade Vila Velha – FAPES, Brazil), Carolina Demarchi Munhoz (Full Professor in the Department of Pharmacology at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences of the University of São Paulo, FAPESP, Brazil), and Griselda Asunción Meza Ocampos (CONACYT, Paraguay).
Networking sessions #
Following the presentations, the session methodology was divided into Networking sessions, organized according to the following themes:

Survey of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) in Animal Production;

Survey of AMR in the Environment;

Development of mitigation methodologies and strategies;

*Development, promotion and use of alternatives to antimicrobial growth promoters;

Production challenges in mitigating AMR; and
-
Production practices: diagnosis, design of training programs and development of communication strategies.
Finally, the session included a sharing of ideas and time for questions.
