La Pampa: Announced a Strategic Day on Water Management in the face of the 'El Niño' scenario

Under the title “Management decisions in a possible El Niño scenario,” technical tools will be provided for producers and advisors in Quemú Quemú. In a production cycle marked by climate transition, the Ministry of Production of La Pampa, through the Directorate of Agriculture, invited to the technical conference that will be held on May 5 at 6:30 p.m., in the town of Quemú Quemú.

The open and free meeting aims to analyze the current water situation in the provincial production systems. Given the forecasts indicating the arrival of a “El Niño” climatic event, the event is presented as a key space for producers and technical advisors to anticipate decisions and mitigate risks.

Cover crop vision: led by Cristian Álvarez (INTA), who will delve into how these practices function as water regulation tools.
Importance and management in winter crops: a joint presentation by Diego Hernán Rotili and Martín Díaz Zorita (Faculty of Agronomy - UNLPam), focused on yield optimization through process technology.

From the organization, it was highlighted that one of the main focuses will be the approach to the water problem at different scales: from the specific situation at the lot and property level, to the hydrological behavior in microregions. Special emphasis will be placed on how process technology and preventive management can transform a challenging climate scenario into a productive opportunity.

The initiative has the support of INTA, the Faculty of Agronomy of UNLPam, the College of Agronomist Engineers of La Pampa (CIALP), CREA, the Rural Society of Quemú Quemú, and the Municipality of Quemú Quemú.

The activity is scheduled for May 5th from 6:30 PM, in the multipurpose room of Grupo Quemú S.A. (Laprida 415, Quemú Quemú).
