The announcement was made days ago during the latest edition of the event, at a ceremony attended by the Secretary of Tourism, Saúl Echeveste; the Provincial Director of Arts, Jesús Gallego; the Mayor of Mauricio Mayer, Juan Krank; and the President of the Mauricio Mayer Social and Sports Club, Darío Domke, the event’s organizing institution.
Following the declaration, the event will be renamed as the Provincial Festival of the Voices of La Pampa, solidifying its position as one of the region’s most representative cultural celebrations and reinforcing its importance within La Pampa’s festival calendar.
The decision was formalized by the Decree No. 1104, through which the Provincial Executive Branch recognized the festival’s history and its contribution to the preservation and dissemination of La Pampa’s folklore. The decree highlights that the festival originated more than four decades ago at the initiative of the Mauricio Mayer Social and Sports Club with the aim of promoting local artistic expressions and strengthening the community’s cultural identity.
The Decree also highlights that, over the years, the festival has become a meeting place for musicians, dancers, and artists from across the province, fostering the dissemination of traditions and cultural exchange between generations. During the announcement, provincial and local authorities celebrated the recognition, considering the declaration as a provincial festival an endorsement of the sustained work of the Mayerense community and those who, edition after edition, make the event possible.
Furthermore, the provincial government designated the Ministry of Social Development and Human Rights, through the Secretariat of Culture, as the implementing authority for the Decree, which took effect upon its publication in the Official Gazette. With this new designation, the Provincial Festival of the Voices of La Pampa will begin a new chapter, strengthening its identity and establishing itself as one of the main stages for traditional music and culture in La Pampa.
